One question, two minutes
In a hospital corridor a patient's companion stops and asks: "Which floor is the doctor on?"
Staff look around, nobody answers, a second person is called. These two minutes are repeated hundreds of times a day. Worse, even the person answering is not sure.
The source of the problem
The information exists but is not accessible. The doctor's room number, title and contact information are recorded in the system — but nobody can reach that information in 3 seconds.
Solution: smart ID badge
A small NFC/RFID tag is attached to the staff member's ID badge. When the badge is brought near a device, it reports its identity and the following information appears on the screen:
- Full name and photo
- Title and department
- Authorisations (application information, procedure information)
- Internal line and mobile phone
Integration
The badge data is not fixed; it comes from a central management panel. On a staff change, a title update or when an authorisation is added, the badge updates automatically. It connects to the hospital information system (HBYS) via API.
Why a digital badge?
A printed card is wrong after 6 months. A digital card is always up to date and can additionally record who accessed which department — valuable both for patient satisfaction and for security.
Result
Access to information became instant instead of taking seconds. A simple but correctly designed infrastructure saved hundreds of minutes a day.
